Teeth Brushing
Did you know that, tooth decay affects around a quarter of five-year olds in England? Tooth decay is also the leading cause of hospital admissions for five to nine-year-olds.
But.. did you know that tooth decay is almost entirely preventable?
Children should brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste twice a day for about 2 minutes to help keep both their teeth and mouth healthy. Children don’t need to use special children’s toothpaste. Children of all ages can use family toothpaste, as long as it contains 1,350 to 1,500ppm fluoride.
The poster below explains how and when children should brush their teeth!

Key Stage 2 Tree Planting
Monday 11th March
Children in Key Stage 2 have been planting trees in the school grounds with OASES
(Outdoor and Sustainable Education Service). The ground was very muddy but everyone had a great time and learned more about the positive impact of tree planting.

Comic Relief
Friday 15th March is Comic Relief and children are invited to come to school in wacky costumes, dress up
clothes or bright colours but please do not buy anything special for this. We will have a collection in
school to support this worthwhile charity and will share our donation total with you the following
week.
Save Antarctica!
Our World Book Day celebrations were a huge success!
Thank you to everyone who created a spectacular Antarctica themed piece of art or project.
We invited all parents and relatives into the hall to see how hard we had been working throughout the day.
Take a look at our fabulous photographs:
Congratulations from Minister for Schools
This week I was delighted to recieve the attached letter from Damian Hinds, Minister for Schools. Well done Team Monty!
World Book Day
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.
Our book of choice this year will be: Let’s Save Antarctica by Catherine Barr
We have been inspired by our visit from Donald Kent earlier in the month. We will be learning all about the ‘Last Wilderness on Earth’.
Children will be completing a range of art and written activities throughout the day.
We will display our work in the school hall and parents and carers are welcome to come and view the display from 3:30pm onwards on Thursday afternoon.
Y5 Swimming Lessons
As you may know, Teesdale Leisure Centre has closed due to renovations.
Swimming lessons for all children in Year 5 have been postponed.
We hope to resume normal swimming lessons in September 2024.
Mother’s Day
To mark Mother’s Day, Mums/Grans or other relatives are invited to school on Friday March 8th. As last year was so busy, and we have grown in numbers since then, it is necessary to split the numbers of visitors.
Relatives of children in Nursery, Reception, Y1 & Y2 are invited between 9.30 – 11 and relatives of children in Y3, 4, 5 & 6 between 1.30pm – 3pm.
If you have children in different key stages, please choose 1 session.
There will be refreshments and activities to do with your child.
