Welcome to Nursery Autumn Term 2019
This term we have welcomed some new friends into our nursery class. During our first few weeks back we have spent time exploring our nursery classroom indoors and out. We feel that it is important to allow children the time and opportunity to freely explore their learning environment so that they feel happy and settled.
Encouraging Independence
This term our children are learning to be more independent. We encourage a ‘have a go’ attitude; we model and support our children when they need assistance. Our children are learning to dress and undress, tidy up, pour their own drinks and take care of their own personal hygiene.
Camping Adventure
We observed that some of our children were building dens and creating camp fires in the nursery garden. We followed the interest of these children and explored using natural resources to create food for the pretend camp fires, we planned what we would take camping, constructed tents for our small world people and we also had a ‘camping day’ in nursery. We invited the children to come to nursery in their pyjamas; we then went to the garden to toast marshmallows on the firepit before returning to the school hall to have a pretend camp out with hot chocolate, stories and campfire songs. A great day was had by all!
