From September 2017, working parents of 3 and 4 year olds will be able to access 30 hours of free childcare per week depending on their circumstances. More details on eligibility can be found at:- http://www.durham.gov.uk/article/2955/Nursery-and-pre-school-education
As a school, we would like to try and ascertain the level of interest that there may be for provision at our school. I would be very grateful if you could complete the letter sent home or the attachment found here and return it to the School Office. Thank you.30-hr-provision
Welcome Back
Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a lovely break and that your children are refreshed and ready for the new term. They arrived this morning looking smart and as I went around the classes there was a lovely atmosphere with children sharing their news.
We have many exciting events planned this term and I will keep you updated via the newsletter. The first of which starts today, with Years 3-6 getting to work with Musikality, our talented musical teachers. It will help us build on the lovely work that already goes on in school and the children are very lucky to work with specialist Sports Coaches and now Music Specialists. I look forward to seeing how all their talents develop this year.
Christmas Spectaculars!
The Christmas Performances this week have been truly special! It started this week with the lovely Christmas Tree Nativity performed by Foundation Stage. The nerve and confidence of our youngest children was remarkable. They remembered all the songs, dances and transitions and made us all very proud.
After that, Key Stage 1 took to the stage supported by Key Stage 2 choir. This was full of action and entertainment as the children danced their way through Lights, Camel, Action! Huge credit to the children for remembering all of their words and dance moves.
Congratulations to the Y5/6 children on their Business Venture. This is the culmination of their half term’s topic and the buzz of excitement around the stalls was incredible. I know they will think carefully about what to do with their profits.
Next, many thanks to two very committed groups. The Friends of Montalbo have worked tirelessly to provide refreshments and the raffle, giving up much of their own time to support the school. This is greatly appreciated. And finally, all of the staff involved over the afternoon and evening performances. They are all totally committed to the providing the best possible opportunities for your children and have helped the children make some amazing memories. Thank you.
Half Term
It’s been quite an eventful half term with new arrivals in most classes. Welcome to all the new children and their families.
There have been many highlights this half term – so many visits and visitors to the school. All have commented on the positive atmosphere and behaviour of our children.
The curriculum we provide really has many links between subject areas and Class 4 showed us this with their fabulous assembly!
Well done to all at Monty. Have a relaxing and enjoyable half term!
MacMillan Coffee Afternoon
Thank you to Mrs Ridley, all the Friends Of Montalbo and the volunteers who helped out at the Coffee Afternoon on Friday. It was lovely to see so many of you there. We raised a magnificent £374 which we will pass on with thanks.
Welcome back!
I hope you have all had a happy and safe Summer break. A reminder that school starts tomorrow, Tuesday 6th September and that breakfast club will be open as usual from 7.45am but is now located in the main school building in Class 1. Wake up, shake up will start again at 8.45am in the hall. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
End of Term
Wow – what a year it has been. So many amazing achievements and fabulous memories. A huge good luck to our Y6 leavers as they move on to pastures new.
I am also sad to be leaving Montalbo behind but will take away so many wonderful memories.
Have a wonderful summer making lots of your own special memories!
